Brief Description

Design a calendar for a Traveling Saleswoman

Context: Valentina leads sales and business development for a Fortune 500 company. She travels 3 out of 4 weeks in the month, and when she travels, it’s almost always internationally. Between all her travel to different time zones and a busy meeting schedule in different cities, she finds it challenging to keep up with her calendar to show up to the right places at the right time.

Challenge: Design a calendar flow and interface that is smart enough to suggest meeting times, accounts for changing time zones, and is proactively working for Valentina to make sure she is always on time for her meetings. The proposed solution has to be mobile-friendly and has to use viable technologies from today.

Instructions: Show your process through user journeys, wireframes, information architecture maps, personas, workflows or any other appropriate method. Submit a minimum of 3-4 unique high fidelity screens. You may optionally submit an interactive prototype as well. Please document your process along with the final screens.

Evaluation Criteria: We are looking to see your overall design and problem-solving process, how you break down the problem and translate the concept into workflows and screens. We want to see how you keep the user needs and business goals at the core of your solution and your visual execution skills, use of platform patterns, clarity of thought and attention to detail. Essentially we want to see how you apply your skill-sets to a problem.

First I did a competitive research to get to know about different competitions of scheduling and calendar apps. I did a competitive analysis of apps like calendal, time page, cron calendar, todoist and google calendar

Each of them had its own pros and cons but some had unique features too like time page. It had feature weather integration and map integration and customisation

Todoist has the feature to set fixed time zones or floating time (due time stays same across time zones) for a task.

Apps like google and calendly can use multiple calendar accounts

Then I started building the persona based off from the context you have given and I was able to recognise Valentina(persona) frustrations and goals to solve them

Goals:
To keep up with scheduled meetings on time
To schedule meetings of various time zones without conflict

Frustations:
Has difficulty dealing with complexities of coordinating activities and meeting across various time zones during international travel, leading to potential scheduling conflicts.

Then I started working on user journey map to discover the improvement opportunities

Improvements:
Suggest available time when there is a conflict in scheduling due to different time zone
Add Instructions to make the user experience easier. Show a preview of when the meeting will be set after time zone calculation.
Add a map feature so the user can navigate to meeting easily and arrive at right place
Also Add a remainder feature considering the time to travel to destination so that she can arrive right place at right time

Then I worked on some paper wireframes so that I can get an idea of how the app should look and work.
Once I got the look and feel I started working in figma creating high fidelity frames

I came up with design solutions and iterations in figma

I made a separate tab so the user can always check for different time zones and change their main time zone when having trouble the user gets notified when there is a conflict in schedule due to time zones and some suggestions they can choose to resolve conflict

I have Added a map feature so the user can navigate to meeting easily and arrive at right place
And remainder feature so the user can get notified about schedule before hand and be on schedule.
