Brief Description
I find myself immersed in the intricate world of mobile application design. Beyond the surface allure of captivating interfaces, I am eager to dissect the nuances that shape user experiences. This assignment challenges me to scrutinize a chosen mobile app through a critical lens, identifying not just its aesthetic shortcomings but also delving into the realms of functionality and user interaction.
I have come up with five specific drawbacks or areas for enhancement within the chosen mobile app. This analysis goes beyond the surface, seeking to understand the intricacies of information architecture, navigation, and user engagement.
In essence, this college assignment becomes a canvas for showcasing my capacity to think critically about design choices, viewing them through the lens of user-centricity and continuous improvement.
Drawbacks/Things to change
Direct Add to Cart option
Complete the look
Notify me option
Frequently used filters
Carousel style shopping
Direct Add to Cart option:
While navigating through the product listings, it is advisable to incorporate a direct 'Add to Cart' button alongside a wishlist icon. This design choice streamlines the purchasing process, allowing users to expedite their transactions with minimal steps, enhancing the overall efficiency and user experience
Complete the look:
Introducing an option to view and purchase the entire ensemble worn by the model by listing the individual products. This feature not only enhances the user's ability to discover complementary items but also streamlines the process of finding and acquiring the complete product combination, offering a faster and more convenient shopping experience
Notify me option:
Myntra previously employed a 'Notify Me' button for out-of-stock products within the wishlist. This feature was designed to alert users as soon as the desired product became available, providing a convenient way to stay informed about restocks and facilitating a prompt purchase decision
Frequently used filters:
Myntra offers product filters to enhance the browsing experience. However, a notable limitation arises after applying a filter – once selected, there is no straightforward method for users to deselect or remove applied filters. To undo a filter selection, users are required to navigate to the bottom, click on the 'Filters' option, and manually go through the entire list of filters to reset their preferences. This design aspect introduces an additional layer of complexity and could benefit from a more intuitive and user-friendly approach to enhance the overall browsing and filtering experience
Carousel Style Shopping:
The post image occupies a significant amount of screen real estate without providing any interactive functionality. An optimized approach would be to allocate this space for valuable content presentation. By relocating the carousel items below, akin to the user-friendly design of Instagram carousel ads, unnecessary taps can be minimized. This not only streamlines the user experience but also ensures a more efficient use of screen space, enhancing the overall usability of the interface.
